Crown is Gaithersburg’s latest mixed-living community under development. It will offer a variety of living arrangements and an array of retail and dining options.
Located near the intersection of I-270 and the Intercounty Connector, Crown is divided into four sections which are under various stages of construction. Downtown Crown, the retail hub of the community, is scheduled to open in Spring 2014. The area is slated to be anchored by a Harris Teeter grocery store and an LA Fitness health club. Dining options currently on board include sushi bar Asia Nine, Latin American restaurant Paladar Latin Kitchen and Rum Bar, Italian eatery La Tagliatella, seafood restaurant Coastal Flats, Mexican eatery Lime Fresh, French cafe La Madeline, Mediterranean fast-casual chain Roti, sandwich and salad eatery Chop’t and frozen yogurt chain Yogiberry.
Downtown Crown will also include a park that planners intend to use for community events, musical performances and farmers markets.
Crown West is the first of the development’s three residential areas to be selling homes. The area offers townhomes and single family residences. Crown West is slated to have a lot of parks and open green spaces with lit paths connecting the residences to retail offerings in Downtown Crown.
Crown East and Crown Central are not yet for sale. Crown East will offer single family and townhomes as well as amenities like a pool, parks and clubhouse.
Crown Central will feature high-rise apartment living in Cadence at Crown, which is being developed by the Bozzuto Group. The project is slated for completion in spring 2014 and will include stainless steel Energy Star appliances, granite countertops, a fitness center and outdoor pool. The building will also offer a shuttle to nearby Shady Grove Metro. Townhomes and single family residences in Crown are being built by KB Homes, M/I Homes and Pulte Homes.
M/I Homes is currently developing two models of townhomes for Crown. The Monet is a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half to three bathroom townhome comprising 2,080 square feet. The Picasso model will offer three or four bedrooms and two-and-a-half to three-and-a-half bathroom townhomes and comprise 2,049 square feet. All M/I Homes are Energy Star certified and come with a 30-year transferable warranty.
Pulte Homes is also currently building two townhome models at Crown. The Carson model offers three to four bedrooms and two-and-a-half to four-and-a-half bathrooms over a minimum of 1,654 square feet. The Ardin model has three to four bedrooms, two-and-a-half to three-and-a-half bathrooms over a minimum of 1,793 square feet.
KB Home is currently developing four townhome models at Crown. The Aldo, Ansel, Maya and Vera are all three-story models with three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, two car garages and varied of square footage. KB is providing 10-year limited warranties with all the homes it sells.
Crown is located off of Fields Road, directly across from the Washingtonian Center/Rio, so residents will also have amenities such as Target, Barnes & Noble, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sport&Health and numerous restaurants.
